VIRGINIA MOTORCYCLE AND TRUCK ACCIDENTS RESULT IN DEATHS AND PERSONAL INJURY
The dangers of motorcycles being struck by larger vehicles is demonstrated by two accidents from different parts of Virginia. In both cases, the motorcycle rider was killed as a result of the accident. In Albemarle County, a motorcycle rider was struck and killed and Chesapeake, Virginia, there was a truck and two bike collision killing one of two motorcyclists.
The Albemarle County (located just outside of Charlottesville, Virginia) accident involved a motorcycle rider who was struck by a drunk driver on Earlysville Road. Speed was a factor. In cases like this, the motorcyclist almost always is the victim and yet some people will try to blame the motorcycle rider.
In Chesapeake, Virginia, a pickup truck traveling west on Mount Pleasant Road, sideswiped a motorcycle which resulted in the deaths of two and personal injuries to another. The truck hit a motorcycle traveling in the opposite direction and caused a chain reaction crash into another motorcycle rider. The driver of the pickup and one of the motorcycle riders died on-site. The second bike rider was flown to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
Our website discusses how larger vehicles can cause severe personal injuries and death to motorcycle riders. In these cases, two out of three motorcycle riders suffered death and the third sustained a personal injury. More education is needed for the general public to stop these types of uncalled for wrecks causing death and destruction to motorcycle riders
